From the beetle to the frog 400

The story of the stapler:

The development of the stapler is closely linked to the beginning of the industrial age. In order to hold paper together the necessary means of producing staples needed to be created.

The original staples were not made of wire but were cut out of thin metal sheets, bent to the right shape and fixed to a wooden stick with a piece of string. For loading the stapler the string was cut and the staples were carefully slid into the loading tray. Staplers used to be big, clunky devices then. As soon as the staples could be glued (development of adhesives) the stapler got its smaller and lighter shape. This development took place in the 1950´s. The SAX FROG 400 combined the advantage of easier handling with numerous functions – even nailing!

Just as the VW Beetle turned into a car for the big masses the FROG 400 by SAX became THE stapler for home and office use. Its simplicity has made it a stapler that still holds its place on the market – well-tried and sold a million times over.
